one step at a time
I'm in a similar situation - I set up a gym at home and got stuck in but the thing I've found most useful is diet - like the guys are saying eat sensibly. I weigh myself every day at the same time. I watch what I eat and using the scales I can clearly see the effect of what I eat.
If I hit the red wine and steak for dinner - I've gained .5k the next day - If I stick to a large salad then I might lose .3k.
For me it's all about cause and efffect. If I gain weight - what did I eat to push my weight up (maybe it was white rice) - okay avoid the rice and so on.
Now it's working for me - I've lost 10k in the last 4 months but then I exercise as well. Mainly aerobic - treadmill, swiming etc.
I believe in doing weights as well which is why I originally joined this forum and I think you have to consider your diet carefully if you are but I'll leave that to guys who are a lot more serious than me - I'm getting there and I'm not going to stop - not ever
Cheers
