No, it makes no difference in terms of fat gain. But the body would prefer to gets its three carbon sources from glucose instead of converting it from protein. Also, it is not yet known if the work the kidneys have to do to excrete the extra protein waste may be harmful to them over time. Last, carbs are a better energy source because they are more quickly utilized, contain fiber, vitamins and minerals and are cheaper.
