That's exactly what I told her, that safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week. It may not seem alot but in reality in 6 months that turns into 30-40 pounds which is almost close to her goal.

Just remind her though that numbers on a scale shouldn't be the determining factor for her goal. She's doing weight training, so she's going to add muscle, which of course weighs more than fat. In the end she could be 160 with a brand new body that she loves. So she should also keep track of how many inches she's losing and how her clothes are fitting.
