The farthest back that I've heard of steroids being used is in WW2 by the Nazis, they gave them to their soldiers to keep strength and aggression up. They also did experiments on them with the Jews. Thus far steroids aren't looking too good are they, well wait there's more. Then the soviet block countries started using them institutionally. So not only were they associated with Nazis and the holocaust, now they were also the tool of choice of the communists at the Olympics. Now we can't have the communists winning all those gold medals, they must be cheating. The only thing they were doing that other countries weren't widely doing was doping, so suddenly doping becomes cheating. Fast forward to 1988, Ben johnson just won the 100 m over America's golden child, Carl Lewis. How could this happen it's not fair that the U.S. lost to a Canadian. Oh wait, Johnson was using winny so he gets disqualified, yet another nail in the coffin of steroids. So far the Nazis, the communists, and even the Canadians have used steroids against us. The last straw goes when Lyle Alzado develops brain cancer and blames it on steroids. He tells the world that if you take steroids you'll get cancer and die. The fact that his personal physician has made the statement that there's no reason to believe his cancer was caused by steroids doesn't matter to anyone. So now the politicians wanna look good so they draft the Steroid Control Act of 1990. They eventually pass it into law despite the testimony of the DEA, the AMA, and the Department of Health and Human Services. All of those organizations testified in front of congress that steroids should not become scheduled drugs, but does congress listen? No of course not, they know better than a bunch of experienced doctors and law enforcement officers.
So That basically brings us to where we are now, steroids are illegal not because they're dangerous, but because it gives politicians a chance to look pretty for parents, like they're actually protecting the children.
It's kind of ridiculous though because the percentage of steroid users that are children is a single digit number, I think it's somewhere in the range of 6%. The other 94% of adults using them are punished because politicians need a chance to look good. If they really wanted to protect the public then maybe they'd outlaw smoking, drinking, football, driving a car, or playing with fireworks. All those things cause more injuries or deaths per year than steroids, but they're not illegal. Have you ever heard of someone becoming a quadriplegic from popping a few DBol? What about blowing his arm off from a shot of sust? Ooh I know, have you ever heard of someone driving late at night and running over a pedestrian at a crosswalk because the tren made them do it? Yeah, that's what I thought.
