The reason the government doesnt let us freely have certain drugs is for our own good, and not because they are being control freaks. If the government really beleived that steroids were absoluteley harmless, and even strcitly beneficial to health, such as an aspirin or IB, there would be no problem having them on the shelves of every store in america, but they can be harmful, so they are protecting the public really.

I know you feel it should be a personal choice, but it is a bad choice to make, hence the goverment makes them illegal.

Same thing goes for cocaine. According to you, people should be able to chose whether they use cocaine or not. Cocaine is obviously a bad choice to make, so the government makes it illegal. It's totally parallel to steroids.
