protein is just food. if you eat enough protein from your daily diet then you wouldnt need any protein supplements. it pretty hard to pack all that food down though and expensive because high protein foods are mainly those from animals (beef, fish, chicken, pork etc.). thats why so many people take protein powders its cheaper than buying all that meat and it makes you less full.
