Default Different weights for changing routine?

I have been doing 3 sets of 10 for quite some time and I understand it is good to break up the routine. The only thing I've changed so far is adding weight.

I was thinking of every 2-3 weeks doing 3 sets of as heavy as I can do for 4-6 reps for 1 week. Would this be a benefit if my old joints can take it?

One more question. I don't know if this has a technical name but I've seen guys do 1 set heavy with few reps then 10-15 reps with lighter weight then 20-25 reps with even lighter weight. Is this something I should think about?

Thanks very much!!

yes, always going heavy is going to benefit you more... as long as your joints are not hurting. The 4-6 rep range should be where you are at anyway.

That other stuff about increasing reps with lighter weights... do me a favor and point and hit the floor laughing when you see that again.. all while screaming "IDIOTS".

Wink

HARPI is right lifting heavy is the only way to increase size.BUT understand that the body adapts to the same thing very easily.KEEP changing things up,---number of reps--time between sets---changing order of workouts ect.W/ GOOD FORM.good luck---------lift heavy and stay clean---mike
