Wow, awesome story guy.
I spent a lot of time in oxygen tents myself for a couple years (6-9). But I had an awesome specialist that didn't want me on inhalers so I was put in swimming classes and day camp throughout the summer. He encouraged my parents to let me have a horse even though I was allergic to hay and animal dander and I built my strength through swimming, backpacking, canoeing, riflery, archery and stable/barn work.
My asthma hit me again a couple years ago and I ended up in the emergency room a couple times. So for the first time in my life I keep an inhaler with me. But it's not so bad. Most of the time I can work my way through an attack without meds.
