In my opinion this message cannot be mentioned enough!
I've been training most of my life. With breaks for pregnancies and illness. Every single time I went back to training (in a gym) other women would notice that I didn't train like them and I didn't do mad amounts of cardio. Nearly every woman would comment to me, "I worry about looking like a man, I wouldn't ever do what you are doing...."
Whenever possible I would try and get them to converse with me a bit so I could tell them, "I've been at this since my late teens, do I look bulky like a man to you?"
It took me years to find a woman friend that wasn't afraid to lift like I do. Sadly we live across town and can't spot each other/train together, but we check in with each other weekly to access where we are at and where we are going with our training.
The myth that a woman that lifts heavy will get bulky like a man is deeply rooted.
