Hey all, When completing squats, the bar is resting on my traps yeh, as i havn't the traps of dorian yates i find the bar pushing on one of my vertebre, i think someone said its the 4th vertebre. either way, this is the one that sticks out the most and it kills like hell when a heavy bar is resting nearly on it. Any tips on how to avoid this pain or if i'm doing anything wrong. i'd rather get this sorted now before i start talking to my chiropractor about my workouts instead of you guys!!!

I'm so inflexible that when I reach back to grab the bar it forces my shoulderblades together, pushing my traps out more than they would normally be, with lighter weights I put the bear on top of my traps, but with heavier weights I rest it behind my traps and lean forward a bit more.... I'm pretty sure I just didn't help at all, but it's worth a try

I use some foam pipe insulation, the grey stuff. It's already pre-slit, just slip it over the bar.

You should make sure to still have good form. Try using one of those foam pads or a towel. You can do more hack squats and the decline kind (not sure of the name) in place of squats. especially hack squat are really good. and the weights are put on your shoulders with a thick padding. The decline kind is good too.. (anyone knowthe name?) your like sitting and pushing up with your legs.

Your sitting like on a 45 degree angle. you upper body is inclined, but the weights motion you're pushing is in a decline position.

The one i'm meaning is when u load up a barbell, stand just in front of it, squat down and grab the bar behind u, stand up, and repeat like a funny squat kinda thing. Its good, works too! Baz

I think you need to take this as a sign that your traps are inadequate and that you need to hammer em harder what is the name of the muscle that sits behind the trap? whatever that is seems to get bigger by heavy military presses.

Training on any other exercise is fine including tricep push downs etc, no pain or discomfort. Any ideas why my left tricep is preventing me from training my traps? |
