hi i'm new to this forum. i recently purchased a 7lb. of the effervescent cell-tech creatine.... i was just wondering if it was better to take cell-tech before or after a workout ? the instructions say take it after, but i've read that taking it before makes better use of the creatine in your muscles.... also cell tech is pretty d**n expensive, i read up on american creatine and how good it was and cheap it is..i'm figuring cell tech is expensive because of all the added stuff whereas american creatine only contains creatine itself.... also i heard you should take something with creatine i forgot what it is..to get the maximum absorbtion....what about celltech?? does that apply to the effervescent stuff too sorry for all these questions...anyways..any help is appriciated!!!! thanks! -creatine-noOb

Hi Steve, welcome. Yeah, cellt is prety pricy well, cuz its got brand name and plus all the added stuff. I would say take it about an hour to 1.5hr before workout for you body to absorb the creatine in it. Not much point taking it after a workout. You're probably thinking of grape juice? It's supposed to help speed up the absorption of creatine into your body. Are you gonna load this stuff as well? Yeah, american creatine is great product for a really good price. we got a few threads here talking about it. It's good price, and it works just as well as any other creatine. and my personal preference is to just take pure creatine over the mix type.

creatine is stored in your muscles, not sure how long it stays there before converting to waste product but maybe that was the idealology they were going for? EAS Phosphogen XP is good stuff, and cheaper than cell tech.

I think it's supposed to be absorbed better after you work out cuz your muscles are "hungry" and they'll suck up whatever nutrients you give them. You could try dumping it in a little container of some kind and then mixing it with a bottle of water at the gym, then take it as you work-out. That way you get a little energy boost from the dextrose. By the way, that's what you were talking about (the thing you're supposed to take with the creatine) CELL-TECH is mostly dextrose (which is a sugar) It's supposed to cause an insulin spike which helps your body absorb the creatine. Grape juice doesn't actually have any dextrose. I've heard of some places that actually sell plain dextrose for next to nothing. You could buy a less expensive creatine and mix it with dextrose-BAM- home-made CELL-TECH! Actually there's a few other things in it, (potassium, alpha lipoic acid, a TON of vitamin C) but you get the point. By the way, don't take 2 scoops of CELL-TECH, you don't need 10 grams of creatine a day, and don't bother "loading" it.

oh yea.. say i do only take one scoop of cell-tech? the box says that there are 75 grams of dextrose in one serving....so by taking one scoop it would be cut in half (37.5g) correct? is that still alright? oh and also....how come i should only take 5 grams of creatine? is it because by taking 10 grams i would be wasting it because my body can't absorb that much creatine? thanks guys!

get a shaker and a long spoon or something, because only about 30% of cell tech is absorbed by the water, so drink it fast in water. you need to mix this with water, or else you'll be punishing yourself.

any creatine is better than serum, first of all. creatine monohydrate does not completely dissolve in water... cell tech has a ridiculous amount of sugar. have you tried mixing sugar in iced tea before? if not you should, it's really tasty, but if you have, you know that it doesn't really get absorbed, it just pools at the bottom. it works the same way with water. as long as it's swirling around in the liquid, and you drink the liquid, you'll drink it and your body will absorb it. don't take it dry, if you try it once, just out of curiosity, you'll understand what lipoic acid does when not diluted drink it in water first, notice that burn? now imagine that without the water to cut it not a great idea, just follow the instructions and keep stirring it.

I take 10g a day during maitenance (I know this is a high number, but I'm just trying to ensure I get the most out of it) on days when I work out that is. on days when I don't, I take the general 5g. I really don't know the answer to this question to be truthful, this summer when I took creatine I didn' take it on days I didn't train, but now I just take it out of habit. why don't you register for the board?
