In recent years, tea and weight loss has taken a spotlight in the dieting community, some of which have devised many sales pitches to push this as a great dieting supplement. And so the slimming tea avalanche started.
First, we had the "green tea diet", promoted by internet marketers along with some talk shows and celebrities. Then we had the short-lived "Okinawan tea diet", which was just another variety of green tea. And now we have the "wu-yi tea diet" which is the lasted hype. Wu-yi tea belongs to the oolong tea classification which this article will now focus on.
But first the question is, can oolong tea really help folks shed pounds?
To answer this honestly, I would have to say yes...but in reality, all tea can help one lose weight since all tea comes from the same plant, the Camellia sinensis bush, and therefore contains the same properties. So, since this is true, what makes oolong tea so special?
Oolong tea contains more polyphenols over its 3 cousins, white, green, and black. Green tea comes in as a close second. These natural plant polyphenols are what is responsible for oolong tea’s weight loss abilities. When consumed they trigger an action in the body called "thermogenesis". Drinking a cup a day or so of oolong tea will not make you lose any noticeable weight, that just doesn't happen! Although it is burning off fat, these are minor numbers. Proper eating and plenty of exercise is A MUST and will greatly accompany oolong tea’s weight loss benefits. In fact, in time this 3-part combination will start to show some results. But it is important to realize that results vary. Not everybody’s metabolism is the same, so what works great for one person doesn't mean it will be the same for another.

Also, please do not be scammed by all of these hyped-up tea diets that are out there on the net, all loose leaf tea will help you shed pounds. There is no need to spend extra money on products that will do the same thing that any variety of loose oolong tea can do. In most cases oolong tea will do better since most of these products are tea bags anyway.
So, oolong tea and weight loss is possible, so long as you are aware how and what this beverage is really doing, drink at least three cups of fresh loose tea a day, and remember to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise...that above all is key!
